A few questions for you guys,

I have been having some driveshaft problems and I think the only thing left is to get the yoke for an AMC 20 rear end. One of the tabs that holds the u-joint cap in place broke and my cheap fix ended about a mile down the road. Do any of you have a spare laying around?

Consequently, on the way back home I smoked my clutch. Now I have never had much experience with clutches so if the clutch feels squishy and won't disengage all the way and smoked, do I just need to replace the clutch plate or is it more sinister than that? If it is just the plate, anyone have any spares?

Thanks,

Cubby

Best bet would be to replace the pressure plate and disc. Also you should remove the flywheel and take it to a automotive machine shop and have them resurface it.

You are on the right track with getting a new yoke. You could patch your old one buy welding a small strap across where the tab used to be.

Most of the time if you keep having issues with the yoke breaking the tabs or the straps, it is from axle wrap. The rear springs are flexing more than the yoke can handle. The solution is to install stiffer springs or a traction bar. Mark

I am not sure of the difference between a diaphragm and a lever type pressure plate for the clutch. I think I have a lever type (there are four "levers" on the plate attatched to the flywheel). Does it matter what type I put back in or does it have to be the same?

Thanks again,

Oh...

Does anyone have a transmission adapter for their floor jack? If so would you be willing to let me borrow it?

Thanks,
