I will be installing a new bumper and warn winch on my 2008 JK rubi unlimited.
After these 2 mods, the next step for me is a lift kit. I have chosen the 2 inch suspension from Mopar with bilstein shocks.
In regards to these mods, do I need to do anything extra to the front suspension to counter act the additional weight of the new bumper and winch?

Thanks in advance for all a**istance.

depending on your springs, the added weight MAY drop your front end down any where from 1/2" - over 1". if this occurs, you can buy spacers to put on the front end or a leveling kit. I think Teraflex makes the leveling kit. Will have to double check though.

on another note: may I ask why you are choosing MOPAR lift?? Many people including myself stay away from MOPAR lifts. they did not design or build it. it is another brand re-boxed for MOPAR and the price driven up. I really recomend cheking out northridge4x4.com, 4wd.com, or quadratec.com.

David @ northridge is who I go through for many parts. He always has great deals.

First let start by saying I am a Newbie, so I really don't know who makes top quality lift kits. I also talked to Hill Kelly Dodge, and the Service Manager told me that if I installed a MOPAR kit, that my warranty will stay in tact. I have read horror stories on a couple of forums about this.

I chose the 2" MOPAR kit because, I don't want to go any taller due to my JK being a daily driver. I also do not want to just install spacers. From what I have been told and based on the research from JK forum & Quadratec, the 2" lift from MOPAR will allow 35" tires.

If anyone can tell me why I should avoid the MOPAR lift other than cost, please do so. I want install a top quality rugged lift.

I know that the kit is made by Rubicon Express, but have not been able to get any response as to the quality and duribility.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Don't believe everything Hill Kelley tells you. They may or may not cover you. Also just because one dealership says they will cover you does not mean the dealership down the street will cover you. Many dealers will not cover another dealerships work. How it is suppose to to work is they have to prove whatever part failure occurred was related to your lift. Any lift from any manufacturer does not void the warranty. Also, some dealers will tell you they must install the lift which can run into several thousand dollars in labor.

When I talk about the cost, for example mopar sells my EXACT RE LIFT FOR OVER $2,000 more than what I paid. That's why I mention the price. mopar can be waaaaaaaay overpriced. Also, RE builds the lift to MOPAR specifications NOT RE specs. So I can't tell you if that front end will sag or not after the bumper install. RE springs are supper strong and can handle a lot of weight. BUT if the spring rate from MOPAR is lower, then the spring may sag. To be honest, unless you have a horrible brand lift, you will probably be ok.

fow what it's worth, just because you buy a 2" lift does not mean you get 2" of lift. for future reference, not all lifts are true in height. some would be 2.5" and u get 2" once installed. it's the same thing as tires, not all are true in size. some are listed at 36" and are actually 35".

I have the Rubicon Express 4.5" long arm on my 07 JK. Great Quality and heavy duty. I would imagine the 2" would be great also. For the most part I have been happy with the RE.

Well, if it is the warranty you are worried about, maybe it will work out for you, but don't get upset if they deny some type of warranty coverage. I mean for the most part you will be ok.But if you have a u-joint fail and bust the axle, most likely they will deny that even though it's a known problem for the c-clips to fall out.

Hope this helps.

here is something else to think about. NO WARRANTY ON THE PARTS.

This is C&P'd directly from Mopars Performance catalog. Page 2, terms & conditions.

"NO PARTS WARRANTY – “AS IS”
Mopar Performance parts beginning with a “P” prefix are sold “as is” unless otherwise noted. This means that parts sold by Mopar Performance carry no warranty whatsoever. Implied warranties, such as warranties of merchantability, are excluded. (An implied warranty of merchantability means that the part is reasonably fit for the general purpose for which it was sold). The entire risk as to quality and performance of such parts is with the buyer. Should such parts prove defective following their purchase, the buyer and not the manufacturer, distributor or retailer, a**umes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repair. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep® vehicle and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or parts are used for competition. The addition of performance parts does not by itself void a vehicle’s warranty. However, added performance parts (parts not originally supplied on the vehicle from the factory) are not covered by the vehicle’s warranty, and any failure that they may cause is also not covered by the vehicle’s warranty."

from more searching, looks like the MOPAR 2" lift is made by Superlift and NOT RE. I can't speak for Superlift but from what I am reading, the lift heights it yielded were 2" on the rear and over 3.5" on the front. which in my opinion would work out well for your bumper and winch to carry the extra weight.

Thanks for all of your help.
I will be looking at other lifts again before I purchase.
Who locally is the best for installs? I want to be sure that I don't use a fly by night.

I know it's aggravating looking up brands, lifts, reviews. but take your time with it. some things will just be personal preference and if you end up wth the mopar, then you should still have a good lift for your needs.

as for a shop, well the guy who a lot of this club and forum used had moved from the area, so I don't know that one.

Maybe start a new thread on 4x4 shops in the area and see what others say. You may even get some offers from club members to help install it for you.
